silver salto cellar - France/h1>

French antique silver and cut glass salt cellar this is a silver salt cellar with cut glass interior made in France. It is hallmarked "Minerve 2", the French mark in use from 1838 to 1972 for silver 800/1000, and silversmith's mark.
The salt cellar is matched with a spoon with the same hallmark but from a different silversmith. This pattern of cellar is embossed with swags of laurel and floral motifs and was widely used from the second half of 19th century, but I'm unable to date it with accuracy.
The salt cellar is 2 in. wide (cm. 5) and the spoon is 3 3/4 in. (cm. 9) and were bought from French dealers in Antique Markets in Paris.
