silver silent butler (ashtray) - Italy





Italian silver ashtray with ivory handle this silver 'silent butler ' was made in Italy around 1935/1940.
Silent butler is a small receptacle with handle and hinged cover used for collecting ashes and crumbs. It has ivory handle and stands on four paw feet with palmette head. The fully engraved lid has a double flower thumbpiece.
The silent butler is 8 1/4 in. wide (cm. 21) and was bought from an Italian dealer in an Antique fair.
