silver tray - Italy

Italian
silver
tray this is an Italian silver tray made in Milano (Milan, Italy) in 1935/1940.
The tray is hallmarked with "800" (purity degree 800/1000 used in Continental silver), the so called "punzone del fascio" (fasces hallmark - silversmith mark 208 MI) and three other hallmarks (an eagle spreading wings, a rampant lion and a stylized interwined GP monogram followed by a punctuation mark).
Who used GP (associated with punctuation mark) trademark in Milano in 1935? Maybe Gio Ponti (somewhere in Italy 'period' punctuation mark are named 'ponti') ? It's an intriguing question! Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated (email to giorgio)
The tray is 14 1/2 in. wide (cm. 36) and was bought from an Italian dealer at an Antique Fair.
